Greenest Greens: Eco-Friendly Brands
On April 22nd, we celebrate EARTH DAY! In the spirit of sustainability, we want to shine a light on brands that are embracing eco-friendly growing and production practices.
With the extensive packaging regulations for cannabis in Canada, it’s essential to recognize innovation. We're proud to support brands that incorporate sustainable practices in their operations—every little effort makes a difference!
Here are some of the brands we carry that are committed to sustainability and may surprise you with their eco-friendly initiatives:
3SAINTS
The flower at 3Saints is grown in a hybrid greenhouse under natural and sustainable sunlight. In addition, they built their greenhouse roof to also collect rainwater which is then used to water their plants. If you ask fans of 3Saints flower, they’ll also tell you that these practices are not only eco-friendly, but also produce higher potency bud with more varied terpene profiles.
BLUNT BOTANICALS
Blunt Botanicals uses safe, fair and sustainable practices, including regenerative farming. They are also committed to using fair trade ingredients in their 100% all-natural products. Also, their zero-waste bath bombs are an innovative and eco-friendly product! Another fun note about Blunt Botanicals: they are committed to either purchasing or creating water-soluble packaging for their products whenever it’s available.
FREEDOM CANNABIS
The folks at Freedom Cannabis have invested in green initiatives such as using solar energy, implementing water remediation measures and using eco-friendly packaging. Their current solar panels offset 1,041 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions annually! They also use 100% recyclable packaging for their products.
ORGANIGRAM
In addition to committing to reducing waste and reusing materials wherever possible, Organigram operates “Organigram Operating for Good (OOG)” which is a program that empowers their staff to give back by volunteering within 4 main pillars, including organizing community clean-ups.
PURE SUNFARMS
Pure Sunfarms commits to sustainability in several ways, including collecting rainwater and runoff to reduce water usage. From September to June, they are able to depend solely on rainwater for their greenhouse operations. They also utilize renewable energy wherever possible, and for 40% of the year, they run on sunshine to grow their plants. Their team also works very hard to reduce light pollution and is committed to other forms of sustainability.
THUMBS UP
Thumbs Up is taking sustainability seriously, starting with their packaging. Thumbs Up packages are made entirely from recycled material, and their pre-roll tubes are bio-compostable as well. In addition, Thumbs Up supports reforestation projects across Canada, and has already been able to plant nearly 13,000 trees in the last two years.
WYLD
Wyld has made great strides to continue its commitment to sustainability, and they’ve had some impressive successes! Wyld is a Climate Neutral Certified brand, as well as achieving being a Carbon Neutral company. Wyld also launched the first-of-its-kind fully compostable legal packaging in Canada. Wyld also supports One Tree Planted, and has already been able to plant 50,000 trees with this partnership.

Now that you’ve learned a bit more about some of the brands we carry, we also want to share that FOUR20 Tree Canada. A charity of choice means that FOUR20 as a company would like to get behind a cause that aligns with our Core Values, and Tree Canada has been chosen.
One of our Core Values as a company is COMMUNITY and aligning ourselves with a cause and a way to give back is important for us. We carry out many charitable activations throughout the year, but this allows us to align efforts around a central cause as well. Another Core Value at FOUR20 is ACCOUNTABILITY and in an industry that is hampered by so much waste, this is a way for us to be more eco-conscious and support an environmental initiative.
