What types of products are legally available?  

 You can purchase dried flower, cannabis oils and capsules, edibles and cannabis beverages, vape pens and cartridges, concentrates and topicals (coming in 2020). 


Who shouldn’t be using cannabis? 

People with a history of schizophrenia or psychosis should not be using cannabis. Those with untreated drug abuse or dependency or those who are pregnant, planning on becoming pregnant or breastfeeding should also refrain from use.  


Is there any way to use cannabis without being impaired? 

Yes, Cannabidiol (CBD) does not cause euphoria or impairment.  


Is it safe to drive after consuming cannabis? 

Absolutely not. Operating a vehicle under the influence of any substance is illegal and dangerous.  


What are some side effects of CBD? Of THC?  

  • Cannabis use can cause (but is not limited to) red eyes, dry mouth, increased hunger, some short-term memory loss and some cognitive impairment while under the influence.

  • The side effects of CBD and THC vary in that CBD causes no impairment. 


Who can buy cannabis? 

You can be a citizen of any country or province, but you must be the legal age of the respective province you are purchasing in. You must have valid provincial or government issued identification that contains your picture, date of birth and expiration date. 


What form of identification is required for purchase? 

Canadian law allows only drivers’ licenses, identification cards, status cards and passports. 


How much cannabis am I allowed to purchase? 

Purchases cannot exceed 30 grams equivalent of cannabis to one individual per visit.


How much cannabis am I allowed to possess?  

You are allowed to possess up to 30 grams of dried legal cannabis (or equivalent).  


Where can I consume?  

Please refer to the municipal bylaws in your city or jurisdiction to understand the public consumption rules in your area.  


What should first-time consumers be aware of? 

If this is your first time using cannabis (or your first time in a long time) it is recommended to establish a baseline. It is helpful to keep a journal to track serving size, amount consumed, time and effect of each product you try to help determine what works for you. 


How do I know how much to take? 

It is important to note that people react differently to cannabis products depending on numerous factors, including their overall health, composition, age and mental state. It is always advisable to start with the smallest recommended serving and wait the appropriate amount of time to determine effects.

What steps do I take if I do not like my experience? 

If for any reason your experience is unpleasant, take note of the amount and strain ingested. Stay well hydrated and try to relax until the feelings pass. There has been no recorded incident of fatality from cannabis overuse, however if you are experiencing anything that might be considered a medical emergency, seek professional medical attention immediately or call 911. Please remember that it is never a good idea to exceed the recommended serving 


How will I know if the cannabis is working?  

The effects of smoking cannabis start in 10 minutes to approximately one hour, depending on your form of consumption. Dried flower, concentrates and vapes will have onset period of five to ten minutes, while any ingestible products (oils, capsules, edibles) will have an onset period of 60-90 minutes. 

For everyone, the onset and effects will be different. You can expect pleasant feelings of euphoria, and calming or energizing effects based on the products used.
