Community Feature: Red Deer

Alberta’s third largest city is home to a vibrant arts and culture scene, but also a burgeoning restaurant scene as well. Red Deer has become a hub of cozy coffeeshops, delicious restaurants and top-tier breweries. Youthful, bustling, local and community-minded.

Our location here is in a shopping hub, just outside of downtown Red Deer, but extremely easy to access from the highway – making our location here perfect for those in Red Deer, but also for Blackfalds, Lacombe and Sylvan Lake residents as well. And of course, anyone travelling along the QEII!

Within walking distance from our location, we’re surrounded by an infamous bakery and delicious burgers. But in just a short drive from us, there’s plenty more to explore in the town of Red Deer.

In our hood,

Just a short way down the road from our Red Deer location is Sweet Capone’s Bakeshop, serving up some of Red Deer’s best pastries and coffee. You’ll definitely feel like you’ve been transported to Italy once you’ve tried their cannoli's. This is the perfect place to spend an afternoon.

If you’re looking for some good coffee,

We’re on it. Stella Bean Sweets not only has a wicked cup of joe but the most delicious baked goods as well. This has quickly become one the most coveted spots in Red Deer for lovingly homemade, quality treats. Dose Coffee is also serving up some amazing caffeinated beverages in both their downtown and riverfront locations – but why we really love this café is the ambience. Beautiful details, pops of lush greenery. It’s a place of both concentration and creation.

A great meal,

Well, Bo’s Bar of course. Not only is Bo’s Bar serving up delicious homestyle favourites with a finessed attention to flavour and details, but they are also one of the best venues for live music. If you live in Red Deer, I don’t think we need to tell you about Bo’s, but if you’re visiting it’s definitely a must-go destination.

The Granary Kitchen is passionate about supporting our local community and Alberta, which resonates deeply with us. This newcomer has quickly earned their stripes by providing delicious meals with locally sourced and sustainable ingredients.

Blue Dragon Fine Thai and Khmer (Cambodian) Cuisine is easily one of the best restaurants in the city and a massive favourite with locals. There is something about Thai food that is so welcoming and comforting, we can’t get enough. And the added bonus of being exposed to Khmer cuisine really transports us away from cold Alberta winters to a much more temperate and exotic climate…

or a great drink,

There is literally NO shortage. We were shocked and excited when we discovered the brewing and distillery scene in Red Deer. Once we found one, it was like we opened the flood gates to quality craft spirits. Epitaph ginTroubled MonkBlind Man BrewingSnake LakeRed Hart Brewing… the list goes on and on. Did we miss one of your favourites?  Share the wealth, we love exploring all that Red Deer has to offer!

maybe you just want to explore,

For all intents and purposes, we are keeping this short and sweet because we could actually do two features on Red Deer. There’s so much to do! If you’re looking to experience the town, Bower Ponds are centrally located, beautiful, and a hub of activity. If you want more of an Alberta tried-and-true experience, Heritage Ranch has a romantic, western, ranch-like feel and offers a variety of equine activities. They also have a fantastic onsite restaurant!

Overall, we couldn’t be more excited to join the Red Deer community. We hope you come and visit us at our new location, located at 503, 6702 Golden West Avenue. Our doors open 10 a.m. on January 30th, and we can’t wait to introduce Red Deer to the FOUR20 experience.
