WHAT IS CBG?
As we continue our series on the future of cannabinoids, we are diving into another exciting innovation in the legal recreational market—CBG.
Like CBN, this cannabinoid has been studied for years, but the recreational market is finally catching up to what those in the medical space have been hailing as a massive scientific breakthrough long before legalization hit.
You may not know this, but FOUR20’s history in the legal cannabis market started long before legalization was in the distance. Our company started as 420 Clinic, the first medical cannabis resource centre in Alberta. It was here that Dr. Ife Abiola first started working with us, as a Medical Director.
Since he joined us many years ago, he’s been talking about why cannabinoids like CBG are going to shake things up, and it’s exciting for us to see it finally break into the space.
In this blog, we are chatting with Dr. Ife about why CBG is so exciting.
What is CBG?
Dr. Ife: Cannabigerol (CBG) is the precursor of all cannabinoids. It has always existed in cannabis products at extremely low levels but now it's available in many different formats.
What does CBG do?
Dr. Ife: CBG has been shown to be an incredibly strong anti-oxidant, reduces eye pressure, maintains bones and acts as a neuroprotectant. A lot of research is still being done on CBG's effects, but the cannabinoid is safe.
How will it make you feel?
Dr. Ife: CBG itself does not cause intoxication. But many people are combining it with THC to cause a different type of body high. The intoxicating effects of THC with CBG creates newer highs that some users really enjoy.
How should you use CBG?
Dr. Ife: CBG can be used by itself or in combination with other cannabinoids like THC or CBD via ingestible oils, smokable dry flower or other methods.
