Pride 2020

Pride will look a little different this year but it doesn’t mean you can’t still stand as an ally and celebrate the LGBTQ2S+ community in Calgary. 2020 has been rough (weed helps), and we know with the current cultural landscape it’s incredibly important that we stand together to promote diversity and inclusion.

So, in that spirit, let’s get to the good stuff and share how you can celebrate Calgary Pride this year.

Ways to celebrate YYC Pride

SUPPORT PRIDE BASED INITIATIVES

Tons of amazing Calgary-makers have Pride specific products that support Calgary Pride or LQBTQ2S+ organizations. We’re offering custom enamel pins, which 50% of the profits go to Calgary Pride!

They can be purchased here, with pick-up in Calgary only.

Whether it’s drinks, food, clothing - there is something for everyone that gives a little good. Some of our favourite offerings include Common Crown’s first ever packaged cocktail, Camp Brand Goods “In It Together” capsule collection, or enjoy food and drinks at one of Freehouse’s rainbow tables and 100% of profits go to Calgary Pride. That’s just a few of the ways you can support Pride, but you can view the full list of Pride partners or offerings here!

Online Parade

Not only can you enjoy a live broadcast of the “parade” with virtual entries from all partners, you can enjoy live performances, drag shows and all the fun, advocacy and love Pride exudes all from the comfort of your home.

View the full schedule here.

Online Classes

Learning is a huge part of being an ally. If you do or don’t have lived experience with the LGBTQ2S+ community, there is always space to learn so you can engage with empathy and better support your community.

The Calgary Pride Learning Series provides over 100 free learning workshops through online sessions during the summer and Pride Week. These sessions are opportunities to get educated on the many intersections of the gender and sexually diverse community. Sessions range from LGBTQ2S+ 101, provided by Calgary Queer Arts Society, to sessions that tackle anti-blackness and racism in the queer community.

You can sign-up for any classes, for free, here.

It’s a little different this year, but Happy Pride Calgary! #LOVEISLOVE
